about
The second single from the forthcoming EP Do What You Like, ‘I Like You’ is a song about crushing on someone, and sees Rhea harnessing the storytelling of traditional heart-on-your-sleeve doo-wop with subtle nods to ‘50s and ‘60s rock and roll, that is both playful and uplifting. The Jangly guitars and the catchy dreamy pop melodies are just begging you to sing along.
"I Like You is a song about really, really liking someone and them not liking you back. I'm very prone to develop crushes on people that are a little bit non-sensical and I wanted to write about that scenario and how often when we feel this way we feel like we have to apologize for our feelings when the crush isn't reciprocated. It's madness. All feelings are valid and we shouldn't feel like we have to apologize or feel guilty for them at all." – Rhea Caldwell
lyrics
I don't like the way I get
when I'm with you
Butterflies and shaky hands
I know you feel it too
I don't know why
I like you this much
it doesn't make much sense
Why do I have to apologize
for being so intense?
I like you
I know that you're not ready yet
so let's be friends
But you know that I'll stay by your side
until you feel your best
I remember that dreamy night
It still feels so real
As a brit of a certain age I'm predisposed to loving Australian exports (Neighbours RIP). I haven't heard anything this fresh in years. Caught Cool It! on the Athens 441 podcast and have been hooked since. ianbax

Channeling the spirit of the Aussie rock greats that proceeded them like Hunters & Collectors, Paul Kelly and Midnight Oil through their uniquely Australian lyrics that draw your mind to red dust roads and gum tree bushland. Unpretentious jangly guitars and a nice blend of female and male vocals tie it together. Ed Denton
